I don’t have the feeling anybody really wanted a sequel to 1975’s Ilsa: She Wolf Of the SS, the film stood out on it’s own and wrapped up the plot quite well. However, apparently director Don Edmunds wanted to make another film that had to have Dyanne Thorne’s voluptuous breasts on display for everyone to see, so Ilsa: Harem Keeper Of The Oil Sheiks exists, and it has absolutely nothing to do with Ilsa: She Wolf Of The SS; well, apart from the fact that the film stars Dyanne Thorne as her “Ilsa” style character that repeatedly tortures women, strips naked and has unrealistic sex with an American man.
Ilsa: Harem Keeper Of The Oil Sheiks is considerably worse than Ilsa: She Wolf Of The SS. For a start: whereas Ilsa: She Wolf Of the SS had decent production qualities concerning cinematography and lighting, Ilsa: Harem keeper Of The Oil Sheiks looks like utter rubbish. The film sports horrifically poor, grainy film-stock, and terrible camera angles. It feels like the film was made on absolutely no budget with a production crew that didn’t even know what the hell they were doing.
The story of Ilsa: Harem Keeper Of the Oil Sheiks is as stupid and as boring as ever: Dyanne Thorne’s ‘Ilsa’ character is the keeper of a harem of pleasure slaves for a rich sheik who arranges a meeting with an American diplomat about trading his oil. Ilsa falls in love with the American. The story is really obvious and predictable because the film follows a lot of the same story beats as Ilsa: She Wolf Of The SS. Ilsa: Harem Keeper Of The Oil Sheiks even contains similar scenes of human experimentation that are just ridiculously perverted: for example, the film is so stupidly deranged that in the second half of the film, the sheik plans to stick bombs in the uterus’ of his pleasure slaves so that when a man climaxes during sex, she’ll explode like a suicide bomber; and that’s an important part of the story. In the end, the only scene in the film that I actually found entertaining involved a married American diplomat and a gay bed-servant. The scene doesn’t contain any sequences of sex or violence, but it involves plenty of comedic dialogue. That particular scene was the only scene out of the entire film that I found genuinely funny,
However, unlike it’s cinematic predecessor, Ilsa: Harem Keeper Of The Oil Sheiks isn’t really violently graphic. The film still sports a few scenes of brutality, but pales in comparison to Ilsa: She Wolf Of The SS. A lot of Ilsa’s characteristic gore was exchanged for more sex and nudity in a desperate effort to help the film receive an R rating, so it would become more profitable in the long run. It didn’t work, however, and Ilsa: Harem Keeper Of The Oil Sheiks would be condemned to the cinema’s bargain bin.
I don’t really have a lot to say about Ilsa: Harem Keeper Of The Oil Sheiks, because the film is just so forgettable. It’s not a spectacle of memorable sex and violence like it’s predecessor, yet it’s not bad enough to warrant being loathed as a cinematic tragedy. It’s middle of the road, uninteresting garbage. By skipping Ilsa: Harem Keeper Of The Oil Sheiks absolutely nothing is missed. Anything the movie has going for it was done better in Ilsa: She Wolf Of The SS, there is nothing else of note that I can really say: it was just a forgettable experience that really wasn’t worth my time.
